Professors in Transportation Design

The Transportation Design Major in the Department of Industrial Design at Hongik University in Seoul, Korea invites applications for non-tenure track professor positions in (a) digital design using Alias or 3D modeling software and (b) exterior & interior design studio. The department enjoys a good employment in the worldwide automotive industry. The course is centered around vehicle design practice and digital process.

Candidates are required to hold an MA or a higher degree and have at least 5 years experience of digital design and exterior & interior practice in automotive design field.

Conditions of contract are as follows:

(1)    Department/Major and Position: Non-tenure track professor positions in (a) digital design and (b) exterior & interior design in the Transportation Design Major in the Department of Industrial Design
(2)    Period of Employment: September 1, 2008 ~ August 31, 2010 (two years / may be renewed upon both parties' agreement)
(3)    Teaching Hours: Minimum of six teaching hours per week during semesters
(4)    Office Hours: Three days a week during semesters to teach, advise, and guide students
(5)    Salary: Minimum of USD40,000 per year
(6)    On-campus faculty residence can be provided, if available, at the monthly rent of USD 400.
(7)    Other Conditions: In order to provide students with real work experience-based education, the candidate must work actively off-campus, engaging in real projects in the area of his/her employment at Hongik University.  The earnings from such projects should be at least 25% or more of his/her yearly pay scale at Hongik University, and he/she shall show proof of such. Should he/she fail to meet these criteria, the contract may not be renewed.
