Successful applicants will work somewhat independently to develop and coordinate fresh, original visual design strategies for a given brand project in advanced design. Your work involves the analysis, development and coordination of information and to conceive, design, develop and provide truly "FORWARD looking" creative advanced design strategies and innovative concepts.
You will also support world-class quality execution of innovative exterior and interior production programs and concepts while integrating customer-focused needs and brand differentiation into all aesthetic proposals. You will also work with other design personnel to achieve design goals and follow the design process from the sketch form to the final release of model.
The successful applicants make perspective sketches and renderings in scale and full-size sufficient to communicate new design ideas and develops two and three-dimensional mock-ups of proposed design solutions. You also work with studio engineers, modelers, other designers and service and fabrication personnel in the development of new ideas in both two and three-dimensional form to required finish. Staying up-to-date with design trends is also important. Presenting new thoughts and designs both orally and visually are key parts of the job, while you will also assist supervision with other designers in coordinating design activities. You will also be in frequent contact with others outside the work group.

The successful applicant will provide support to the global advanced design director/advanced design manager to coordinate and manage branded advanced design projects, proposals and initiatives in the advanced design organization. You will directly interface with strategic brand managers to develop and coordinate the visual design strategies for a given brand project in advanced design, while your work involves the analysis, development and coordination of information and to conceive, design, develop and provide truly "FORWARD looking" creative advanced design strategies and innovative concepts. This color and trim creative design position will report to a color and trim design manager. Creative Clay Sculptors - CRE0000186 - Location: Warren, Michigan
Successful applicants will create three-dimensional scale and full-size clay or digital models of proposed automobile designs and components. Work duties involve a very high degree of skill, accuracy and coordination. You will exercise independent judgment with supervision as needed and work individually or in groups with decisions made based on established procedures and specifications. You will occasionally instruct other sculpting personnel and create and develop three-dimensional models in accordance with engineering and design specifications using clay sculpting, milling or Alias . You will also use data acquisition equipment to transfer dimensional information to and from clay/digital models while producing finished models to specifications with minimal supervision. You will adhere to curve and surface creation standards for development of "class-A" quality surfacing as well as partake in some mentoring of sculpting techniques using clay sculpting, milling or Alias.
Digital Sculptors – CRE0000097 – Location: Warren, Michigan
Digital sculptors will develop class-A production surface math data for the design center. You will support the surface development process for successful on-time with quality releases – the work is highly creative. Work duties involve a high degree of skill, accuracy and coordination under general supervision. Providing digital surface math data that meets production surface standards, you must be knowledgeable in the areas of design and product engineering process. You will ensure communication between the design denter and engineering and resolve any technical design and engineering conflicts. Ensuring adherence to corporate standards is a must, while you must be knowledgeable in the vehicle development process. Keeping abreast of new product and design process technology is also key, while you will advise the first line supervisor about project status and timing of your assignments.
Creative 2D Design Business Analyst IT – INF0002874 – Location: Warren, Michigan
This person will partner with internal cross-functional customers within Global Creative Design Centers to understand Designer's needs, analyze and evaluate various IT solutions, and drive enhancements through the application of systems and technologies that enhance GM's Automotive Design Studio's IT processes. This role requires a high level of customer focus and business knowledge to ensure the appropriate creative business needs are clearly defined, communicated and delivered. Strong oral and written communication skills are required, with a proven ability to communicate and build relationships cross-functionally. You will have a deep understanding of today's design studio process and the IT software used by designers to be able to translate designers' needs to internal GMIT and external IT vendors. Some examples of software knowledge preferred are: Alias 2D, Showcase, Photoshop, Sketchbook Designer and some knowledge of Maya, Alias 3D and RTT DeltaGen.
