Works independently and with diverse product design/development teams to coordinate/perform a full range of automotive color/materials research, design and development functions. Maintains the role of materials/color design liaison to internal product development teams, factories and external suppliers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Applies general knowledge/understanding of vehicle development cycles and collaborates with senior designers to oversee the development and implementation of materials/finishes from concept through production.
• Develops innovative color and trim concepts that balance automotive brand strategies, design/functional requirements and aesthetic appeal while maintaining consumer value.
• Conducts product research to assess proposed materials/color strategies and creates/proposes new automotive materials.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in related field and three or more years of related work experience
Identifies and prioritizes multiple complex problems and develops sound solutions in a timely matter. Maintains multiple project schedules/deadlines. Develops strong, productive communication between the design and research areas to ensure that new ideas and solutions are reviewed and sound solutions are achieved. Researches, develops and facilitates multiple approaches to problems as they arise. Effective computer, communication, presentation, organizational and negotiation skills. Ability to travel and work overtime as required by projects.
