Kia Design Chief Peter Schreyer will receive an honorary doctorate from London's Royal College of Art in recognition for his contribution to automotive design. Shreyer, who will be receiving the honor next week, is only the third automotive designer to ever be awarded the RCA honorary doctorate, with Pininfarina and Guigiaro both having been previously recognised.

Internationally acclaimed for his design of the now iconic Audi TT, which made it from drawing board concept to reality unmolested, Shreyer is also responsible for the design of the Kia ex_cee'd concept recently unveiled in Geneva. Having studied Industrial Design at the Fachhochschule in Munich and at the Royal College of Art in 1979-1980 under an Audi scholarship, Shreyer joined Audi in 1980. He worked at Audi and Volkswagen until 2006 when he left to join Kia as Chief Design Officer.

"I am very proud and delighted to be honored by the Royal College," Shreyer said, "It has a world renowned tradition for encouraging the finest work and among its honorary doctors are some of the greatest names in the art and design world. To be included amongst them is possibly the greatest accolade I could wish for."
