Chery Tiggo 6 concept

Chery Tiggo 6 concept

The Tiggo 6 is another new Chery designed by Bertone. This compact SUV is similar in size, proportions and in its archetype SUV design theme to the compact Opel Antara and Chevrolet Captiva.

The only details that dustinguish this car from the Asian and European-market SUV offerings from GM is the circular element pushing out of the otherwise tall rectilinear rear lights and the unusual body coloured element that partially covers the tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

Billed as a concept, the Tiggo 6 appears to be very close to a final production design.

Great Wall i7 concept

Great Wall is not a company that prides itself on producing vehicles with unique design attributes. This is particularly evident when looking at the i7, a model that bears striking similarity to an existing design, in this case the Toyota Yaris.

Look beyond the extroverted, full-depth grille - replete with crude chrome vertical vanes - and the Mitsubishi Outlander-style lights and the larger multi-spoke wheels of this concept and it's clear the Great Wall i7 is all but lacking in design originality.

Dongfeng Liuzhou YingYi

Dongfeng Liuzhou YingYi

The design brief for this new mini-MPV was clearly unequivocal - copy the Mitsubishi Grandis. Although significantly smaller than the Japanese original designed under Olivier Boulay during his stewardship of Mitsubishi design five years ago, the Liuzhou bears no apparent originality.

Dongfeng previously built Mitsubishi cars under license and uses a Mitsubishi-supplied powertrain for this new car, so given this context the design of the Liuzhou makes a lot of sense. The rationale of adopting an existing and appealing design that is unknown is also a significant reason for the company to bring this car to market.
