Opel is one of Europe’s largest automakers and has been part of the French automotive company Groupe PSA since August 2017. We are proactively approaching the transformation that the entire automotive industry is facing. The industry will change more in the coming years than it has in the last decades. The megatrends that characterise this transformation are electric vehicles, connected and autonomous vehicles as well as alternative individual mobility concepts such as car and ridesharing. We are aligning ourselves to these trends and, as a driving force of these developments, using the chances they offer. The Opel/Vauxhall Design Center in Rüssselsheim/Germany is responsible for all future designs of the Opel/Vauxhall Brands. Based on creativity, phantasy, flexibility and forward thinking the Opel/Vauxhall Design Team takes a leading role in future design. Our Designers, technicians, modelers and further experts of various workshop areas with high level of skills and expertise as well as long standing experience take the challenge to develop attractive and successful automobile designs.
What to expectWhat we expect
  • Lead and support an internal design team to execute a unique, innovative and fresh design, according to the demand of the program
  • Develop and support highly creative design solutions in 2 and 3 D, reflecting customer demands and Brand requirements
  • Leading an internal team to incorporate goals of the programs, by cooperating strongly with Engineers, Digital Modelers and Clay Modelers
  • Display a problem focused behavior, concerning difficult challenges. Support with proposals and alternative solutions to resolve the issue
  • Guide, implement and support to refine the future brand and technology strategy, or process related strategies
  • Make design decisions, considering program demands as well as aesthetical demands ( shape, proportion, graphic )
  • Bachelor or Master Degree with good knowledge of the car design industry
  • Outstanding design skills (2D Images and 3D models) and the ability to communicate new ideas and future concepts in a highly professional manner
  • Excellent English language skills (oral and written)
  • Very good presentation skills (German / English)
  • Display a high level of social competence, in order to work effectively with others
  • Be able to motivate others and achieve outstanding results in a team
  • Display a high level of intercultural competence

  • Develop, execute and visualize unique, innovative and fresh designs appropriate to program requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent 2D and 3D communication skills
  • Make appropriate design proposals based on knowledge of brands, competition and trends
  • Communicate and maintain design theme, effective communication visually and verbally
  • Identify potential problems/critical issues for resolution and recommend Design alternatives and solutions
  • Develop judgement skills and build relationships within the Design team and cross functional organization
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Automotive / Industrial Design
  • Highly developed visualization skills set (traditional as well as digital visualization methods)
  • Highly developed taste and proportional feel
  • Capability to work in a cross-functional development-team
  • Technological understanding and interest
  • Base knowledge in Alias
  • Fluent in English (verbal & written)
