Geneva 2018: The weird, wild & wonderful ones

Here’s a snapshot of some of 2018 Geneva Motor Show’s odder offerings

Published Modified

The Geneva motor show may be one of the world’s most prestigious car shows, but it still houses the weird, the wonderful and the tiny, alongside the mainstream vehicles. This year is no different. Here’s a snapshot of what 2018 GIMS has to offer.

Flying Huntsman Civilian 6X6

Do you have a small army you wish to transport over any terrain? Then the Kahn Design Flying Huntsman Civilian 6x6 is just the ticket. At just over five metres long this Defenderesque monster will transport a driver plus eight ‘civilians’. Made under the Chelsea Truck Company banner, it has a panoramic sunroof which extends from the B pillar to the back.

Willys Jeep

Part of the FCA stand was dedicated to Jeep’s heritage, with a 1941 Willys-Overland MB planted among tussocks of grass. Designed for military use during World War II, this light reconnaissance vehicle still acts as inspiration for Jeep designers today.

Sbarro GTC

Sbarro’s stand never disappoints, and this year the marvellously loopy 4X4+2 and GTC concepts caught our eye.

e-mobile-microlino-blue

e-mobile’s Microlino

The Microlino electric vehicle is a two-seater city car. Inspired by an Isetta from 1950, it’s a modern take on the bubble car. Cute and functional, with a suitably retro interior design.

e-moke

E-Moke

In the same vein of taking an appealing design and electrifying it, the Mini Moke has had an e-makeover. Staying at your parents’ house in the SOF or Barbados for the summer? Then the E-Moke is the pious transport choice for you. If your parents don’t own a house in the SOF or Barbados, then you probably don’t know (or care) what a Moke is anyway…

eadon-green-zeclat

Eadon Green Zeclat

Following the astonishing (and huge) Black Cuillin at Geneva last year, Eadon Green (Felix Eaton) is back with the downsized Zeclat. Built on a Corvette platform, this is the ‘accessible’ Eadon Green supercar, and it works hard to create the same 1930s design cues within the constraints of the platform.

techrules-ren-rs

Techrules Ren RS

For us, no visit to Geneva is complete without a bit of Techrules madness, and they didn’t disappoint with the track-focused Ren RS, which retains the bubble canopy from the Ren supercar concept from last year and sports the most spectacular aero package we’ve seen for quite a while.

pagani-zonda-barchetta

Pagani Zonda Barchetta

Continuing the supercar theme, the Pagani Zonda Barchetta is notable for its exclusivity and price. Three will be built, and they will cost 20 million Euros each. Wow.

zenvo-rebellion-tsr-s

Zenvo Rebellion TSR-S

Danish supercar specialist Zenvo have returned to Geneva with the aero-obsessed Rebellion TSR-S. Most effort seems to have gone into designing the dramatic Centripetal Wing, which uses two rotational axes, enabling it to function as both an air brake and a cornering stabiliser.

mansory-bugatti

Mansory Bugatti Veyron

Of course, no motor show report is complete with a moment of Mansory madness so here is the Bugatti Veyron Diamond Edition. Mansory says that the revised bodywork features bigger air intakes and a carbon fibre front lip. But that wasn’t the most striking design detail we noticed…
