Car Design Dialogues Europe 2027
Car Design Dialogues Europe launches in Stuttgart for 2027
Car Design News will bring together leading automotive designers in Stuttgart on 23 February 2027 for a new event exploring the future of European car design, as part of its expanding global membership programme
Car Design News has announced the launch of Car Design Dialogues Europe, a new event taking place at Wagenhallen in Stuttgart, Germany, on 23 February 2027.
Bringing together senior designers, creative leaders and strategists, the one-day event will explore the challenges and opportunities facing a profession undergoing profound change.
Europe's automotive design landscape is being reshaped. A new generation of design leaders is taking charge at established brands, while emerging competitors, new technologies and changing consumer expectations are challenging traditional approaches to vehicle design.
Against this backdrop, Car Design Dialogues Europe will provide a forum for open discussion, with panel debates, presentations and workshops examining the people, products and ideas defining the industry's next chapter.
The event also marks an important step in the evolution of Car Design News, which is moving beyond its traditional subscription model towards a membership programme designed to inspire, inform and connect the global automotive design community.
Under the new model, members gain access to CDN's journalism, analysis and industry intelligence, alongside opportunities to exchange ideas and build relationships through Car Design Dialogues and the annual CDN People Awards.
From 2027, attendance at CDN events will be exclusive to Corporate members, bringing the publication's editorial coverage and international events programme together under a single membership offering.
A changing European design landscape
Among the central themes will be a new wave of European design leadership. As established brands navigate technological and cultural change, senior figures will discuss preserving brand identity while developing new design languages, building creative teams and responding to commercial pressures.
The programme will also examine the future of European vehicle typologies, from the enduring appeal of the hot hatch, grand tourer and compact city car to the opportunities presented by electrification.
Another discussion will focus on the growing influence of Chinese manufacturers in Europe. With several brands establishing European design operations and recruiting industry talent, the event will explore how this investment and expertise is changing the continent's design landscape.
Beyond vehicle exteriors, sessions will address evolving colour, material and finish (CMF) strategies, the future of truck interiors and the relationship between designers and digital technology.
With touchscreens having dominated automotive interiors for much of the past decade, the programme will consider what comes next for human-machine interfaces, from artificial intelligence and voice interaction to the return of physical controls.
The role of design in bringing new vehicles to market will also come under scrutiny, examining how creative teams work across disciplines to translate design intent into commercial success.
Building a global design community
Stuttgart provides a fitting setting. Home to some of the world's most influential automotive brands and surrounded by design studios, engineering expertise and suppliers, the city remains one of Europe's most important automotive centres.
Car Design Dialogues Europe builds on CDN's international events programme, which includes Shanghai, Milan and Detroit, bringing together designers and industry leaders for discussions that go beyond conventional product presentations.
The emphasis will be on candid conversation, practical insights and the exchange of ideas between established design leaders and emerging talent.
This approach reflects CDN's new membership model. While independent journalism remains at the heart of the publication, the ambition is to create a more connected professional community, bringing designers together throughout the year, online and in person.
As the boundaries of the profession continue to shift, Car Design Dialogues Europe will address an increasingly important question: who will define the next era of car design?
Car Design Dialogues Europe takes place on 23 February 2027 at Wagenhallen, Stuttgart.
