Beijing 2016: Geely Emgrand GS stands out from the mass of Chinese crossovers

A great demonstration of how far the Chinese carmakers have come

High-riding family cars litter the halls of the Beijing show but the Geely Emgrand GS (not G5 as the badge suggests) is one of the few that really stands out form the crossover soup.

Peter Horbury’s team have been turning out increasingly impressive designs over the last few years and this is the best yet. The platform on which it sits might not be ideal, but its stance is strong with a low, car-like profile that sets it apart from many of the other cars here. It’s particularly impressive to see two very different front and rear lower mask variants to differentiate trim levels.

The other overriding feeling is one of quality both outside and in, while its cabin adds some fun, quirky touches and well thought out materials choices.
