LA 2016: Nissan uses the Force
How to draw show-goers to your stand when you’ve got no new product

When you have no new product, how to draw show-goers onto your stand? Nissan’s answer here in LA is a huge (and presumably expensive) tie-up with Star Wars. This deal has created the somewhat dubious Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition (geddit?) — a car barely worthy of mention, with Star Wars gold plaque on the lower front doors, a lot of dark and chrome, and some black wheels.

But the stand is decked out with Star Wars ships, Storm Troopers, and the centre piece, a giant Tie Fighter that you can walk under. On the media days, journos and VIPs were already queuing up to photograph the Star Wars stuff (and not the cars on the stand). Given the nature and popularity of the Star Wars franchise, we’d not be surprised to see Nissan’s stand be one of the most popular of the entire show.
