The team from Karma Automotive take us inside their California studio exploring the OEMs contemporary take on luxury, electrification, and the future of high-performance coupes

The team from Karma Automotive take us inside their California studio exploring the OEMs contemporary take on luxury, electrification, and the future of high-performance coupes. Deputy editor of Car Design News Mike Nash spoke with David Hilton, senior design director global Design and Jacques Flynn, director, exterior design at Karma Automotive.

“At Karma, architecture lives in design. Plenty of times designers are giving a package and then have to make it sweet, perhaps challenge here and there. Here we are literally coming up with architectures that support design and vice-versa. And those happen in parallel, which I hadn’t seen before,” said Flynn.

Hilton added: “That trickles into electrification where your packaged units are smaller – we are all trying to shrink wrap the outside while exploding out the inside. That is a mantra for us here, we want to do the same using different types of architecture.”
