As China’s automotive landscape continues to diversify at a pace that feels increasingly difficult to keep up with, this latest showcase featured over 180 debuts spanning both concept and production models across a wide range of vehicle types, as brands try to balance global ambitions with local relevance.

From supercars and luxury flagships to community-driven builds and rugged off-roaders, here are some of the standouts.

Zeekr 8X

Positioned between the athletic 7X and the more opulent 9X, the 8X balances performance-oriented proportions with a refined, luxury-led aesthetic. It adopts a wide, low stance and pronounced rear haunches, paired with elevated detailing. This includes full-width wraparound taillights with a distinctive “shattered glass” effect, an expansive grille, and lighting elements that extend into the sides. A performance-focused Yaoying version (pictured) features blacked-out chrome accents for a sharper, more menacing finish.

AUDI E7X

Designed specifically for the Chinese market, the second model under the SAIC-Audi brand AUDI (without the four rings) continues the form language introduced with the E5 Sportback. Its signature front and rear light loops take centre stage, replacing the traditional grille and comprising over 1,000 triangular elements, while slim vertical matrix headlights sit along the upright edges. As a performance-oriented SUV, it features a more pronounced bonnet, soft shoulders and muscular wheel arches, combined with short overhangs to emphasise a sporty stance.

Avatr Vision Xpectra

Described by the brand as a move towards “emotive luxury,” the vehicle is designed to reflect its user while creating a stronger emotional connection through interaction. A stretched, sculpted silhouette is paired with a distinctive LED light signature, while exterior sensors and lighting elements respond to movement, enabling a more intuitive relationship between car and driver. An upright A-pillar and crystal-inspired cabin architecture maximise light and space. Inside, a central “vortex” design houses an AI entity, interacting through light and motion, while lamella elements flow seamlessly across the dashboard and into the doors.

Second Generation Geely Galaxy Light concept

Three years after the first generation shaped the brand’s design direction, this second-generation concept evolves its “Ripple Aesthetics” language with a stronger emphasis on luxury over performance. Signature elements including the Galaxy Starfall grille and Flying Eaves headlights are now paired with full-width light strips. The overall design moves away from a tech-led EV aesthetic towards greater maturity and sophistication, supported by a more upright stance.

Buick Electra Zenith concept

With sculpted lines and layered colour treatments, Buick’s latest concept under its Electra sub-brand presents a distinctly extraterrestrial vision of mobility. The front features a “floating wing shield”, while the body takes the form of a teardrop-shaped transparent shell. Matching rear lighting signatures, active aerodynamic wheels and a U-shaped rear spoiler complete the exterior, while inside, a flexible cabin features rotating seats, a central table and partition elements, signalling its autonomous intent.

Hyundai Ioniq Venus and Earth concepts

The Ioniq Venus adopts a smooth, single-curve silhouette for a sleek, cohesive appearance, with sharp edge lighting that widens its stance and reinforces its futuristic character. Frameless doors and floating mirrors further emphasise efficiency and a high-tech feel. In contrast, the Earth concept combines sharp surfaces with robust detailing, while its interior focuses on comfort through nature-inspired lighting, “air hug” seating and a more subtle use of technology.

Denza Z Spider

While not an entirely new model, this Spider variant reinterprets the Denza Z as a four-seat convertible, adding a retractable soft-top to the concept first shown in Shanghai last year. Led by Wolfgang Egger, BYD’s Global Design Director, the design follows the “Pure Emotion” philosophy, translating Denza’s core language into a more dynamic form. Strong front and rear fenders, a low-slung beltline and a prominent rear diffuser emphasise performance, while a front intake and bonnet duct enhance downforce.

Dongfeng Peugeot Concept 6 and 8

The Concept 6 adopts a shooting brake silhouette, defined by a clean front end with a closed grille and horizontally oriented LED daytime running lights that continue the brand’s signature “lion claw” motif. Illuminated logos at the grille centre and on the fenders reinforce its identity, while the rear echoes the front with a strong, sculpted bumper. These same design elements carry over to the larger Concept 8 SUV, where more substantial proportions amplify the language into a flagship expression.

 Nissan Terrano PHEV concept

Targeting younger Chinese customers, Nissan revives the Terrano name for a rugged, boxy off-roader. Defined by an upright front end, short overhangs and a purposeful stance, the design emphasises capability from the outset. Integrated skid plates and tow hooks reinforce its off-road intent, while multiple rectangular LED elements create a distinctive, recognisable face. Functional details, including bonnet vents and pronounced black cladding around the wheel arches, further underline its durability and adventure-focused character.

Firefly Snow Rush concept

Developed in collaboration with the Firefly community, the Snow Rush Firefly concept reimagines the compact city car as a snow-ready adventure vehicle. Created to challenge perceptions of what small cars can achieve, the project equips the Firefly with a functional tracked running gear setup, a front bull bar, auxiliary spotlights, a roof rack and reinforced exterior elements, turning the cute Firefly from an urban runaround into a rugged outdoor explorer.

VW ID. Aura T6

Developed by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture, the ID. Aura T6 is the first model in the brand’s new ID. Aura series, entering China’s highly competitive electric mid-size SUV segment. Its design marks a clear shift away from the softer, rounded forms of the existing ID. family, adopting a more upright, conventional SUV stance with a longer, more horizontal profile. The front features a slim, full-width light bar integrated with an illuminated logo. Clean surfaces, flush door handles and subtle character lines reinforce a more restrained, contemporary aesthetic.
