Ludwin Cruz promoted to Jeep interior design chief North America

The new North America interior design chief has been promoted from lead design manager at Stellantis, a position he held for just under three years. Prior to this, Cruz held the job title of design manager for a year – where he developed and executed a design strategy for future Stellantis vehicle interiors. 

Reflecting on his promotion, Cruz told Car Design News: “Stepping into the role of chief of interior design for the Jeep brand is truly a dream realised. Jeep is one of the most iconic and respected brands in the world, and with that comes tremendous responsibility, one I take on with deep respect for the brand, its heritage, and the passionate community it represents. I’m especially energised by the incredibly talented design team already in place; their creativity, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence make this opportunity even more inspiring.” 

Cruz will now be working directly with Ralph Gilles, chief design officer at Stellantis. 

Cruz studied Industrial Design at CCS and first entered the automotive industry in 2015. Here, he worked as an automotive design specialist at Ford Motor Company, where he contributed to the development of vehicle designs for pre-production programmes. He then moved to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, where he found his interior specialism, moving from senior creative designer to senior creative interior designer. Within this role, he worked on the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer concept’s push-to-start button, rotary knob, vent and more. 

The designer began working solely on the Jeep brand in 2021, where he took on the role of senior interior designer at Stellantis – working on the likes of the Grand Cherokee and the Grand Wagoneer. Then, after a year stint back at Ford Motor Company as senior creative designer, Cruz moved back to Stellantis in August 2022.
