Skoda has appointed Peter Olah as head of interior design. Olah has masterminded the Czech brands interior architecture strategy since 2015, which has seen it shift from prosaic functionality to nipping at the heels of more premium brands in terms of quality and aesthetic.

In his new role, Olah will oversee the interior design of the entire vehicle across all the models in the line-up. The designer’s wide-ranging remit includes interior architecture, control elements – user interface and user experience – as well as colour and trim.

Olah studied at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, before founding his own design studio. He joined VW in 2002 before moving to Skoda’s design studio as senior designer in 2005. Following another year-long stint at VW, Olah returned to Skoda as design project manager. The designer continued to study and teach at his alma mater. Broadening his experience further, Olah managed the HMI team.

Skoda head of design Oliver Stefani says: “With Peter Olah at the helm, the interior architecture of our models has taken a big step forward in recent years. As head of the Interior Design Architecture department he has, with his team, brought numerous innovative concepts to life. His creative ideas and his many years of experience make Peter Olah an ideal candidate for the role of head of interior design. I’m delighted to continue working with him.”
