Koenigsegg has announced that Sasha Selipanov, currently the chief of Genesis’s global advanced design, will be moving to join the Swedish hypercar manufacturer as head of design, effective as of October 2019.

While Selipanov has been at the Korean premium manufacturer since 2017, he does have plenty of supercar experience on his side; he was on the team that created the Lamborghini Huracán in 2010, and in 2014 he became head of exteriors at Bugatti while they created the Vision Gran Turismo and Chiron.

“This is a dream come true,” commented Selipanov. “I have followed Koenigsegg’s path for years and have been a huge fan of the company’s free spirit and commitment to innovation. In today’s world, Koenigsegg’s story and achievements are unparalleled; I am honoured to offer my professional expertise as well as my lifelong passion for sports cars to Koenigsegg.”

The ArtCenter graduate will also take charge of design at RAW Design House – a new facility on the same industrial estate as Koenigsegg, overlooking an ex-military airfield in Ångelholm, Sweden – which will offer “a wide spectrum of design services” (suggesting non-automotive projects, perhaps) to select clients.

Christian von Koenigsegg said of his new star hire: “It shows how far Koenigsegg has progressed that we can attract talent like Sasha. I look forward to fusing the Koenigsegg way of developing and designing cars with Sasha’s experience and radical methods. I expect spectacular results.”
