With just one week to go, Car Design Dialogues Beijing returns on 24 April - bringing together senior OEM designers at a pivotal moment for both the Chinese market and the global automotive design community.

Car Design News has maintained a close relationship with China’s automotive design industry since 2010, tracking its rapid evolution from emerging force to global leader. Over the past two years, that connection has been actively re-established with the Car Design Dialogues series - positioning CDN once again as a key point of connection between Chinese studios and the wider international design community.

That renewed engagement comes into sharp focus in Beijing this month.

As the industry gathers during the press days of Auto Beijing, Car Design Dialogues will provide a dedicated space for designers to step away from the show floor and engage in more open, candid conversation with peers. The event’s curated, OEM-only format ensures that discussions remain focused, relevant and grounded in real-world design challenges.

China continues to set the pace across multiple fronts - from electrification and intelligent interiors to new expectations around user experience and brand expression. But with that pace comes complexity. Designers are navigating intense competition, rapid technological change and the need to create products that resonate culturally, balancing global brand identity with distinctly local relevance.

This year’s programme reflects those dynamics. Sessions such as 'Designing Intelligent Interiors' will explore how CMF, UX and HMI are converging to shape more intuitive and emotionally engaging experiences, while 'Leading the Future of Chinese Design' will consider the rise of China as a creative design powerhouse and how design bosses can shape the growth of their teams.

As ever, the emphasis is on discourse. Car Design Dialogues is designed to foster honest, peer-to-peer exchange, creating an environment where ideas can be shared openly and perspectives challenged constructively. We experienced exactly this at the same event in Shanghai last year.

Beyond the stage, the evening offers a rare opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from across the global design community. With many already in the city for Auto Beijing, the event provides a natural moment to come together, continue conversations and strengthen relationships.
