Watch: Skoda lighting designer Petr Nevřela

Skoda 7s light signature

Car Design News speaks to Petr Nevřela, lead exterior lighting designer at Škoda about the development of the brand’s award-winning lighting designs

Car Design News: Tell us about the development of the Crystalline lighting signature. What were you trying to achieve?

Petr Nevřela: You want to be unique and recognisable. To build a theme, which could work for years, so customers can recognise the car just according to the light signature.

But at the same time, we shouldn’t forget that we tried to build something, which is also clever, because we didn’t have an unlimited budget where you could do  whatever crazy stuff. So from that point of view, it was, for me as a designer and the whole team, very challenging. We built something unique, very simple and clean from design point of view.
