The legendary designer Chris Bangle gets all fired up in this one-on-one interview with Car Design News’ editor James McLachlan. The two discuss the philosophy of design, animated shorts and why the car design needs a radical shake-up if it is to meet the physical and emotional needs of tomorrow’s generation.
“If car designers understand themselves as outside or inside clothing designers for four-wheel mobility, they won’t get too far in the world,” Bangle warns. “Some people expand upon that by saying they are interpreters of a brand. But the reality is that the world around us needs creatives that do positive things. This goes beyond the world of automotive.”
