Car Design round-up: Renault, Bentley and Rolls-Royce

Car Design News takes a look at news that may have gone under the radar, including the latest updates from Renault, Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Dacia
Ombré paint finish revealed by Bentley
Bentley has applied its new Ombré paint technology to a Flying Spur sedan.
This new paint finish blends two complimentary colours over the length of the car, transitioning along the sides and roof.
It’s painted entirely by hand by the paint shop artisans at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England, with each blend taking 60 hours to finish. For more on Bentley's paint expertise read our interview with paint guru Steve Williams and CMF supremo Andrea Jensen.
Ombré by Mulliner is available in three different colour combinations – Topaz Blue to Windsor Blue, Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame and Tungsten to Onyx.
These colour ways have been specially curated to avoid a third separate colour appearing during the transition.

Renault opens first rnlt concept store in London
Sitting on Electric Boulevard within the recently transformed Battersea Power Station grounds, the new rnlt concept store is home to the brands latest electric models as well as accessories and products from the Originals Collection.
The space aims to provide potential customers with an immersive experience of the Renault brand, with quirky touches like a vinyl bar (in partnership with Sony Music) and the Renault 5 Turbo 3E concept being on display (until 21st September).
A colourful display of yellow and green welcomes customers as they step into the space, which is purposefully smaller than a traditional Renault showroom (just over 200 sq. meters) in order to get into the heart of the community.
Chief marketing and branding officer Arnaud Belloni told CDN: “We are first trying to communicate our brand and legacy. I looked at the [store] design of the likes of Nike and Dyson to learn about the way they displayed their products, the lighting etc. Then I explained to the team that these stores are first explaining the brand, then the product and then the technology. It’s a slow life strategy and not a hard push.”

Rolls-Royce presents Cullinan Cosmos commission
This one-of-one space-inspired commission is the first Rolls-Royce to feature a fully hand-painted Starlight Headliner.
The Headliner was developed over 160 hours and painted entirely freehand by one of the marque’s in-house artists. It depicts an interpretation of the Milky Way that has been colour-graded to complement the interior palette.
The artist used more than 20 applications of acrylic paint to build enough depth and dimension for the cloud formations and a make-up brush to achieve the mist effect.
The exterior is finished in Arabescato Pearl with a hand-painted twin coachline in Charles Blue to match the interior leather seats.
