Dacia Striker revealed as an aerodynamic alternative to SUVs

Dacia’s newest addition to the fleet has been revealed – the Dacia Striker. Positioned as an SUV, estate and saloon crossover, the Striker is designed to complement the Bigster

Dacia has revealed a new crossover. The Striker combines the high driving position and robust design of an SUV, the interior space of an estate and the performance of a saloon in an aim to expand Dacia’s range in the C-segment.

Design director at Dacia, David Durand, commented: “Striker is a new and complementary response to current automotive expectations, based on a different balance to that of conventional SUVs.”

The exterior design features a taut shoulder line and sleek profile with an elongated roofline accentuated by aerodynamic contours. Below the shoulder line, the contours appear vertical and structured.

Aerodynamics were a key consideration within the design process, with Dacia engineers taking the most aerodynamic elements of each vehicle category – low height, long roofline, raked rear end – as well as looking at refining the rear underbody sections, the rear wide spoiler and deflectors.

This crossover is also the first vehicle to sport Dacia’s new T-shaped LED light signature, positioned at the four corners of the vehicle. This dash-like signature is integrated into a gloss black grille at the front that extends across the full width of the vehicle. The rear adopts a similar approach, with the light signature embedded in a wide black strip – broken up by the Dacia name in embossed lettering.

Inside, the IP is split into three tiers, organised in levels of functionality. The tier closest to the driver is made of primarily textile surfaces for comfort, the second level groups the most frequently used physical controls together. The third level, set further back, provides access to the 10.1-inch central touchscreen, which can be combined with a media display or media navigation system depending on the trim level.

Dacia’s approach to practicality remains, however, with familiar features such as the YouClip integrated throughout. Also, a cable run extends from the storage compartment opposite the passenger to the centre console for concealing cables.

In fact, three new YouClip accessories have been introduced with the Striker – a water bottle holder, a blanket that doubles as a children’s play mat and a multi-purpose net that can be used to carry objects or be fitted between the front seats for extra storage.

The Dacia Striker will retail from under £25,000.
