SEAT’s new exterior design director Julio Lozano joins the Spanish OEM after spending six years at Audi

Julio Lozano is the new head of exterior design at SEAT and Cupra, taking over from Joaquin Garcia who moved to NIO in October 2021. He will report to design director Jorge Diez.

Lozano has over 15 years of experience working across various brands. He started his career with six years at Renault before joining SEAT, where he spent four years and played a significant role in shaping important models like the Ibiza and Arona. He then moved to Audi to assume the role of lead designer at the Advanced Design Studio in Munich, and subsequently joined the team in Ingolstadt.

He is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London at Elisava in Barcelona. He also studied Technical Engineering in Industrial Design at the Cardenal Herrera CEU University in Valencia.

“Julio Lozano is a great designer with extensive experience in the automotive sector,” says Diez. “His perfectionist attitude and his search for excellence together with his international experience are a perfect combination that will be reflected in the lines of our next models. We are very proud of his return to SEAT and really excited to keep pushing our electric future.”

SEAT and Cupra have been quiet over recent months. The Cupra Tavascan is due to join the portfolio in 2024, and an “urban electric car” will enter production in 2025.
