Renault shows Mobilize Limo designed for ride-hailing
A refrigerated centre console and dedicated app make the Mobilize Limo particularly suitable for ride-sharing services
Renault has published a few images of the fully-electric Mobilize Limo – a four-door saloon created as part of a joint venture with Jiangling Motors Group. It has been designed specifically for ride-hailing services, and will be available via a subscription service in the second half of 2022.
Measuring 4.67m in length, 1.83m wide and 1.47m high, the Limo is around the same size as the Renault Talisman, but it looks extremely different. Indeed, it is closer in shape to the Arkana than the Talisman.
The front end includes a distinctive light signature, with each headlamp unit housing three circular lamps. Narrow and sharp LED units cut back into the bonnet and emphasise the wheel arches. The side profile is characterised by the long sloping roof, falling gently to meet a small ducktail spoiler. The back also has a distinctive T-shaped light design. Again, the lights outline the shape of the wheel arches and slice into the boot lid.
On the inside, the Limo appears to have been heavily influenced by Renault models but with an added element of luxuriousness. Artificial leather seats are black with white stitching. The doors include false metal inserts, soft fabrics and sections of carbon-fibre, as well as ambient lighting strips. The dash has a linear design, with the middle section acting as a stand for the large dual screen unit that includes a 10.25-inch instrument panel and 12.3-inch touchscreen.
The Limo also delivers on some unique ideas that cater for the car-sharing market. For example, the storage compartment between the two front seats is also a fridge, while numerous charge ports for smart devices and volume control knobs are available to the rear seat passengers. There will also be a Limo app for drivers, allowing them to access the car’s location, unlock the doors, and set the temperature. It can even be used to schedule charging times.
Speaking of charging, the Limo is equipped with a 60kWh battery that will, according to Renault, provide around 280 miles on a single charge. This falls short of many other EVs currently on the market, but the French OEM believes it is enough to cover “intensive” daily use.
Mobilize is a sub-brand from Renault that was created in January 2021. The Limo is the first of four planned cars that will be launched under the Mobilize name.
