New Renault Duster design for India
The Renault Duster has received a design refresh for its 2026 relaunch in the Indian market
India’s Renault Duster has been updated for 2026, with a reworked exterior design and a complete interior redesign. The project comes via Renault’s automotive design centre in Chennai in collaboration with Renault’s design team in France.
While the exterior design doesn’t appear to be dramatically different from the European Dacia Duster, it’s clear updates have been made – especially when comparing to the previous Indian Renault Duster. The shoulder lines appear more prominent, and the stance seems robust and wider.
New chrome grille detailing appears on the face of the Duster alongside redesigned LED DRLs that resemble the side profile of a measuring spoon. At the rear, a horizontal light strip has been added, a trend that seems to continue to rise (we can’t escape from) in car design.
Together, these updates provide the Duster with a more contemporary appearance, with Renault stating these adjustments have been made to achieve “visible improvements in perceived quality”.
India’s new Duster will launch in six colours, including Jade Mountain Green – a new shade inspired by the Himalayan forest – reflecting BASF’s latest colour-trend report that names green as the colour of 2025.
Inside, the redesigned cabin focuses on connectivity and comfort. The IP incorporates the OpenR twin-screen display that includes a digital instrument cluster measuring up to 10.25 inches and a central 10.1-inch touchscreen. Google is integrated into the system, provided access to the likes of Google Maps and Google Assistant.
Silver trim detailing is utilised throughout the cabin and contrast green stitching adds a layer of visual interest. A leatherette material has been used on the seats, dashboard and door panels for a soft touch feel.
There are three multi-sense drive modes – Eco, Comfort and Perso. Within each mode, customisation spans engine settings, steering feel, 48-colour ambient lighting and multimedia.
Comfort is accounted for through power-adjustable ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control. Rear passengers are accounted for through dedicated air vents and a panoramic sunroof for added light.
The Duster has been in India for some time, having launched in 2012. As of 2025, Renault has sold over 200,000 Duster models in this sector, and as India’s automotive market continues to grow – now the third largest in the world – Renault is aiming to meet this demand. The new Renault Duster will be on sale in India in Spring 2026, with South Africa and the Gulf States to follow.
