30 Aug 2000 - Coventry University’s MA Automotive Design Show, sponsored by international metals group Corus, and known this year as 'H-Point', opens on Thursday 21 September.

Julian Thomson, Head of Advanced Design at Jaguar Cars, opens the Private View of the show at the University’s TechnoCentre, with the keynote speech of the evening. He then joins the judging panel for two awards which are presented on the night - Best Vehicle and Most Innovative Design, with prizes supplied by Corus.

Once again the show will provide an inspirational and innovative range of designs from student designs from Britain and across the world, offering convincing visions of the future look of several of the world’s leading marques. This will include the ‘New Generation Ford Focus’ project by Saharudin Bin Busri, winner of the ‘Best Transportation Design’ category in the Alias Wavefront Global Student Competition 2000.

Corus has included the Show in its Design Futures Initiative, a programme to encourage and recognise excellence in design and sustainable solutions. It will also include selected designers from the show in its activities at the forthcoming International Motor Show at the NEC, Birmingham, in October.

The show is open to the public from 22-29 September at the TechnoCentre, Coventry University Technology Park.
