Celebrating International Women's Day
Car Design News recognises International Women's Day 2026
Here at Car Design News, we are lucky to have access to a wide range of designers – including plenty of female designers across all manners of automotive design. Therefore, this International Women's Day, we are rounding up a selection of interviews with these women in one handy place.
There is still work to be done in the industry to support and bolster women in design. Gender imbalance remains, with just 13% of mobility designers being women in Europe – and this figure dropping to a mere 7% in senior leadership.
And with the recent omission of diversity & inclusion reports from large OEMs in the US, it is now more difficult than ever to get an accurate picture of gender diversity within design.
Ultimately, to be a woman in car design is to be valued and respected for one's perspective – regardless of gender. When speaking to a panel of female designers at Lynk & Co, this sentiment was echoed, alongside the added benefit of a woman's ability to spot detail and add emotion into design.
So read on for a selection of our latest coverage led by female automotive designers.
