Car Design News takes a look at the news that may have gone under the radar this week, including the latest from Aston Martin, BMW and Škoda

Q by Aston Martin

Aston Martin has traded tweed for tropical with the one-off Palm Beach Edition DB12 Volante – a bespoke creation from Q by Aston Martin and Aston Martin Palm Beach.

Finished in Frosted Glass Blue (yes, with real glass flakes), the open-top Super Tourer gets nautical with Aurora Blue and Ivory leather, palm-leaf embroidery and jet-black diamond-turned wheels. Even the wood trim is book-matched to mimic palm grain.

With coordinates of Palm Beach embossed on the dash and engraved metal inlays on the seats, this 670hp cruiser is essentially a speedy sculpture of art.

New BMW M2 CS

BMW’s latest compact rocket, the M2 CS, packs a 530hp punch and a ducktail spoiler to match.

Built in Mexico and landing in the UK in late summer 2025, this carbon-clad special edition shaves 0.2 seconds off of the M2’s 0-62mph spring, hitting it in just 3.8 seconds.

The M2 CS is finished in hues such as Velvet Blue and rolls on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear gold bronze alloys. Carbon bucket seats, full Merino leather wrap and a BMW OS 8.5-inch curved display give the interior a sporty, yet premium feel.

Škoda Favorit

Škoda plugs into its past with a striking reinterpretation of the Favorit – the late 80s hatch that helped launch the brand’s global evolution.

Revived by designer Ljudmil Slavov as part of Škoda’s homage to historic models, the new electric concept ditches the tech-deck face in favour of the pure Modern Solid style.

A standout feature is the LED lights hidden behind covers that mirror the shape of the original’s bulky headlamps – a nod to Bertone’s design challenges in the ‘80s.

It’s not for production, unfortunately, but this tribute is a nice reminder that Škoda takes its design heritage seriously. More futuristic revivals have been promised, so watch this space.
